四胡 SI HU: FOUR-STRING FIDDLE

四胡

流行于内蒙古和华北地区，因张四根弦故称。张四根弦。因第一、三弦都定为d¹，第二、四弦都定为a¹，故拉奏出的音都由两个同度音构成，致使音色显得光彩、明快而富有生气。常用音域约两个八度。

SIHU: FOUR-STRING FIDDLE

The instrument is commonly found in the Inner Mongolia and North China. The name came from its four strings, which are divided into two pairs, a fifth apart, i.e. both the first and the third tuned as d¹ and the other two tuned as a¹. The resultant is a series of tones in unison, brilliant, lively and dynamic. Its range is about two octaves.
