方笙

近代的方笙大多出自河南等地，因笙管排列的横截面呈方形故称。笙管分前后两排或三排，与圆笙不同点为两手食指均于笙管内侧按孔。

FANGSHENG: SQUARE MOUTH ORGAN

The modern fang (square) sheng mostly come from Henan Province and its neighboring regions. The name arises from the square-shaped arrangement of pipes as seen from its cross section. Those pipes are arranged in two or three rows. Its difference from the type of the round-shaped arrangement of pipes lies in the need for both index fingers to stop the holes at the inner side of the pipes.
