六十年代，舟山锣鼓曾红极一时。许多国家级艺术团体纷纷到舟山学习舟山锣鼓，有些团体还把舟山锣鼓作为出国演出的重点节目。如1976年中国艺术团赴美演出的舟山锣鼓曲目《渔舟凯旋》等，深受国内外观众的欢迎。1987年，“舟山锣鼓”的传统曲目《舟山锣鼓》、《八仙序》、《渔家乐》、《沙调》、《潮音》（纯锣鼓曲）等被编入《中国民族民间器乐曲集成·浙江卷》。许多曲目曾被灌制成唱片。“舟山锣鼓”既是舟山宝贵的海洋民间艺术资源，也是我国民族民间音乐的艺术瑰宝。

文革后，由于市场经济和多元文化的冲击，老艺人的相继过世，一批较为年轻的艺术人才弃艺从商，“舟山锣鼓”出现了青黄不接的局面，一度沉寂。近年来，在政府与文化部门的大力关注下，在音乐工作者的努力和民间艺人的积极配合下，“舟山锣鼓”又进入了振兴阶段。目前全市已有舟山锣鼓演奏队二十余支，作品多次在省内和全国获奖。

In recent years, under the great attention of the government and the cultural sector, the “Zhoushan gongs and drums” has entered the rejuvenation stage under the efforts of the musicians and the active cooperation of folk artists. At present, the city has more than 20 branch of Zhoushan percussion Orchestra, many works in the province and the national award.
