花儿是流行于甘肃、青海、宁夏等广大地区的一种山歌，是当地人民的口头文学形式之一。花儿结构分两段，前段比兴、后段是歌唱的主题内容。曲调具有浓郁的抒情性，演唱时用临夏方言，有浓郁的地方气息。“花儿”唱词和曲调分“河州花儿”和“莲花山花儿”两大类。“花儿会”是一种大型民间歌会，又称“唱山”。“花儿”又称“少年”。男青年唱的叫“少年”， 女青年唱的称“花儿”。据说，“花儿”至少已有六百多年的历史。它内容丰富多彩，形式自由活泼，语言生动形象，曲调高昂优美，具有浓郁的生活气息和乡土特色，深受回、汉、藏、东乡、土、撒拉等民族的喜爱。

The flower is a kind of folk song which is popular in Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and other areas. It is one of the oral literature forms of the local people. The structure is divided into two sections, the front section is the theme of metaphor, after singing. The melody has a strong lyricism, singing with Linxia dialect, there is a strong local flavor. “Flowers” lyrics and tunes “Hezhou flower” and “Lotus Hill flowers” in two categories. “Flowers” is a folk song called “large, sing mountain”. “Flower” is also called “juvenile””. The young man sings “Youth”, and the young woman sings “flower””. It is said that the “flowers” at least more than 600 years of history. Its content is rich and colorful, the form is free and lively, the language vivid image, the melody is high and graceful, has the rich life breath and the local characteristic, deeply by the back, Han, Tibet, Dongxiang, earth, Sala and so on nationality’s affection.
