双簧气鸣乐器。以竹为管身，管端插以芦哨，开有九个指孔，前七后二。约公元四世纪自龟兹（今新疆库车一带）传入内地。音色深沉、悲凉，所吹旋律如泣如诉。隋唐时期筚篥十分盛行，

BILI: OBOE

Double-reed aerophone. A bamboo-made pipe has nine finger-holes, seven at the front and two at the rear, with a reed whistle inserted into its top end. The bili oboe came into China’s heartland from Kucha, Xinjiang, in the fourth century AD and became prevalence in the Sui and Tang times (581~907). It sounds as deep and sad as weeping and complaining.
